Litho

Quanta System, headquartered near Milan, Italy, produces laser systems for some of the world’s leading brands.

Quanta’s own brand lasers have a well established reputation for offering quality lithotripsy in humans and recently began offering the same technology for veterinary applications.

Endoscopic treatment is particularly useful for areas with difficult access while avoiding the complexities and complications of traditional surgical interventions.

Other veterinary applications for the Litho include urethrotomy, tumour excision, ablation of ectopic ureters and the removal of polyps & vaginal scars.

The Litho surgical system is based on Holmium laser with emission at two micron wavelength and a maximum power output of 30W.

The Litho is available as both a tower and table-top device. Litho surgical system is based on Holmium laser with emission at two micron wavelength and a maximum power output of 30W.

The 2 micron wavelength is highly absorbed by water and biological tissues and operates either in short-pulse mode or long-pulse mode. Short pulse mode is highly effective in the fragmentation of calculi and in tissue ablation while the long pulse mode is particularly suited to cutting soft tissues, providing excellent haemostasis and coagulation with minimal damage of surrounding tissues due to its low penetration depth.

The Dusting Effect feature of the Litho further enhances its versatility, allowing hard stones, particularly renal stones, to be reduced to small particles that may eliminate the need of basket extraction thereby reducing the total procedure time.

Applications:

  • Lithotripsy
  • General Surgery
  • Urethrotomy
  • Tumour excision
  • Ablation of ectopic ureters
